Comparison of Fixed Deposit Interest Rates

with Monthly Payout

Here you can see a line graph comparison between the 10 competitors taking in deposits (best viewed on a desktop, laptop or tablet). You can compare the interest rates offered for terms of 1, 2, and 3 years.

In our table comparison, we include terms for 3, 6, and 9 months, and 4 and 5 years.
Because not all banks and MFI's offer these shorter or longer terms, we have excluded them from this graph.

You may notice two lines standing out: Amk's and Amret's. Amk increased its interest rates between April 13th and May 1st by respectively 1, 1.25 and 1.25 percentage points (1, 2, and 3 years term). This was probably to catch up with the much higher rates offered by Amret, which is a direct competitor. Amret reacted immediately by adding .45, .45, and .40 to their rates for respectively 1, 2, and 3 year terms.

However, since September Amret has cut its rates no less than three times. Its rates are now way lower than Amk's and also not really competitive anymore overall. Where Amret once was in 2nd place when it comes to interest rates on fixed deposits, it's now in 6th or 7th place. We wonder what is happening at Amret?

In total contrast to the recent rate cuts, Wing Bank increased its payouts significantly in December: for a 1-year term the rate is 2 percentage points higher, for a 2-year term the increase is 1.50 percentage points and for a 3-year fixed deposit 1 percentage point.

Microfinance institution LOLC has lost its long held top position. Now, Woori Bank offers the best interest rates for fixed deposits in US dollars. For a term of 1 year, they're on par with KB Prasac, for terms of 1 and 2 years Woori offers the highest rates in Cambodia.

The bank you should never deposit your hard-earned money in, is ABA. In this graph you can clearly see ABA Bank offers by far the lowest rates in the market.
