Amret has made some changes to its fixed deposit rates. But it’s a bit of a mixed bag. Rates for payout at maturity have been cut by as much as 0.70 percentage points for both KHR and USD deposits!
The rates for fixed-term deposits with a monthly payout have been raised by 0.9 percentage points and 1.0 percentage points for terms of 4 years and 5 years in Khmer Riel, respectively. However, deposits with monthly payout in US Dollars have mostly been cut, by as much as 0.70 percentage points!
Terms of 4 and 5 years now have the same interest rate whether in USD or KHR, but Amret still pays a higher interest rate for USD deposits with shorter terms. This applies to fixed deposits with monthly and maturity payout.
Despite the higher interest rates for deposits in Khmer riel with terms of 4 and 5 years and monthly payout, Amret is still lacking behind competitor KB Prasac Bank which pays 8.25% and ACLEDA which pays 8.15% and 8.25% for 4 and 5 years respectively. As for maturity payouts, Amret has lost the top position for 4 and 5 year term deposits to Hattha Bank.
